Disable Hibernation and Delete hyberfil.sys

I. Through Command Line

  1. Win+R -> “cmd”
  2. Enter command

    powercfg -h off

    Disable hibernation pwercfg

II. Through Control Panel (system specific)

  1. Windows XP

    1. Go to Control Panel -> Power Options or Win+R -> “powercfg.cpl”
    2. Go to Hibernate tab
    3. Uncheck Enable hibernation
    4. OK

      Disable hibernation Power options XP

  2. Windows 7

    1. Navigate to the Advanced power settings dialog
      1. Win+R -> “control powercfg.cpl,,1″

      2. Control Panel
        1. Go to Control Panel -> Power Options or Win+R -> “powercfg.cpl”
        2. Select Change plan settings
        3. Select Change advanced power settings

      Disable hibernation Advanced Power options Win7

    2. Select Sleep -> Allow hybrid sleep
    3. Set to Off
    4. Select Sleep -> Hibernate after
    5. Set to Never (enter 0)

      Disable hibernation Advanced Power options Win7 after

III. Then check if the C:\hyberfil.sys is removed or remove it manually
