Remove Items from the Left Navigation Pane

I. Working with Registry

It is possible to remove the following left Navigation Pane elements through the Registry:

Favorites
Libraries
Homegroup
Computer
Network

For any item use these steps:

1. Win+R -> “regedit”

2. Go to the appropriate branch in

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\[ID]\ShellFolder

Remove Pane Items Registry

3. Change the Attributes key value to [v1] to remove or [v2] to restore the appropriate item.

4. Log Off or Restart the system.

The [ID], [v1], [v2] parts are following:

II. Using the program

1. Download the Windows 7 Navigation Pane Customizer program

2. Open it and uncheck unnecessary items.
